Union of South America - National Flag

Description

NOTE: This is the beginning of a new AH flag project that I am starting out. The point of divergence is that the British do significantly better in the War of Jenkin's Ear and succeed in mounting an invasion of the Rio del Plata region. With the assistance of Guarani, Mapuche and a coalition of Quechua-Aymara peoples under Juan Santos Atahualpa, the British establish a large colonial foothold in South America making up of much of Argentina, Uruguay and Chile as well as smaller archipelagos like the Falklands, etc. The Mapuche and Guarani homelands become protectorates of the British Crown and a neo-Inca monarchy is established under Atahualpa in what is now southern Peru and Bolivia as a buffer state between the enlarged Spanish Viceroyalty of Nueva Granada and British South America. The country is far more populated than its OTL counterparts are, due to natural population growth as well as more immigration. For the USA, I envisioned a flag that would pay respect to its heritage, that of being primarily Anglo-Hispanic. The Cross of Burgundy representing Spain and the Flag of St. George representing England. Again to any Argentinineans out there, if you're offended, don't be. I didn't mean for this to be offensive or whatever. Okay? So don't complain.

________

[1] Quichwa Tukumano - a Quechuan language that includes all the Quechua dialects spoken in the USA. Although there had always been Quechua speakers in the USA's borders since the age of the Inca Empire, many of the language's speakers are descendants of 19th century migrant workers from the Peruvian Empire who spread its use beyond its original range in Tucuman. It's become the dominant spoken language throughout the northern hinterlands of the Union of South America, as it was used not only by the Quechua, but other First Nations people in South America. The numbers of speakers are estimated to be around 1.4 million to 2.1 million people.

[2] Mapunzugun - a alternate spelling for Mapudungun, the Mapuche language.

I attempted a flag much similar to this, but in my own attempt I tried to utilize the Mexican flag colors along with that sky-blue color many Central and South American . It turned out ok, though the colors never quite settled with me. Your flag however, I like quite a lot and I think both parts would very well. The Coloring is simply and of course the textured look makes it quite appeasing to the eyes.
